Anti-corrosion treatment: Total restoration of a deteriorated valve body

In the heart of our workshop, an anti-corrosion project has recently been completed, representing one of the most comprehensive and technically advanced examples of our approach to industrial regeneration.

Context and initial critical issues- Anti-corrosion treatment

The part in question is a large-diameter valve body, completely compromised by extensive corrosion, localised oxidation and surface failure caused by years of operation in an aggressive environment (probably raw water or chemically active fluids). As can be seen from the images, the metal was subject to:

  • Flaking and peeling of the original coating

  • Deep penetration of iron oxide

  • Widespread micro-cracks and porosity

  • Unprotected welds exposed to corrosion

Stages of the intervention

To restore the valve body to optimal operating conditions, a complete cycle of surface cleaning and protective coating was carried out, divided into the following phases:

1. Metal grit blasting (Grade Sa 2½)

È stato rimosso ogni residuo di corrosione, pittura precedente e contaminazione superficiale. La sabbiatura ha restituito un substrato uniforme e pronto per l’adesione dei materiali successivi.

2. Application of molecular metal

A two-component molecular metal-based product was used on the most damaged areas to:

  • Restore flatness

  • Reinforce edges and threaded seats

  • Rebuild critical thicknesses

This step ensured high mechanical strength and durability.

3. Ceramic coating with high chemical resistance

Subsequently, a double-layer ceramic coating was applied, particularly suitable for environments with high turbulence and chemical aggression. The coating:

  • Restored internal protection

  • Drastically reduces friction and wear

  • Provides a waterproof barrier against future corrosion

4. Final quality control

Each surface was inspected visually and by touch. The correct thickness of the coating was also verified, as well as the absence of bubbles, craters or microdelamination.

The result: a new lease of life for the component

The difference between before and after the treatment is clear:

  • The structure is now aesthetically uniform, smooth and protected.

  • The treated surfaces can withstand extreme conditions.

  • The customer will be able to significantly extend the useful life of the component, avoiding replacement and reducing operating costs.
